Cooler Master has brought the greatest aspects of computer cases all together; style, performance, and silence. The Cosmos 1000 is not only a great looking case that has very elegant looks to it, but it also keeps the insides very cool while staying very quiet. Any time that I have taken a look at a "silent" case, I was skeptical about getting it due to the fact that silence often sacrifices some sort of cooling abilities that the case could have offered.  With this case, however, the impact was minimal.
Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 is the case for you. When comparing the temperatures of this case with the ones I got with the other cases, and comparing the noise levels, I have a feeling that this will be replacing my current case.

The Cosmos has certainly been an interesting product, starting off with our early story at CeBIT, running through the pure panic of the Cooler Master staff as we informed them of its troubled state upon arrival and then going onto the lab bench.

Now lets talk about the good things such as the insolated side-panels which are as easy to get on and off as any case I have ever reviewed.  Bravo Cooler Master for getting it right!  Another round of applause is due Cooler Master for the remarkable cooling system they have designed and implemented it this new breed of enclosure.

The Cooler Master Cosmos really impressed me, not only does it have great looks but it also has lots of features that make it a joy to use. If you don't mind the heavy weight and the high price I definitely recommend it, this is one of the best cases I've ever seen.

The CoolerMaster Cosmos isn't available yet but it will arrive in retail stores all over the world in the next few weeks. The case will be introduced in Japan and Hong Kong on August 1st, in most European countries it will become available on August 11 or August 18 and the U.S. launch will take place on September 1st. Australians will have to wait until September 7.

Pros:

Fantastic build quality
Ample room for your components
Designed to keep your gear cool

Cons:

Large dimensions may make the COSMOS hard to fit in some rooms
Heavy weight design makes for a heavy system when fully equipped

Verdict:

The Cooler Master COSMOS is by far the nicest looking case I have seen in a long time. The sound deadening materials inside actually work, there is a noticeable drop in noise levels in my office after changing to the COSMOS. Cooler Master simply went all out on the COSMOS so if you are looking for a attractive case that is both quite and cool, look no further.

Conclusion:

After looking at the Cooler Master Cosmos and building a system with it I am just as impressed as I was at Computex. The case is solid; I could stand on it without breaking anything except for maybe the plastic on top. There is not a millimeter of play or movement from the case when wiggled and most importantly nothing seems to rattle when it is shaken.

The handles on the top make it feel less heavy than it actually is. With a shipping weight of 18 kg, almost 40 pounds this is important. The metal rails on the bottom also make the Cosmos very easy to slide on carpet unlike many of the cases that I have owned....

CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 draws Tweak'O meters up to 100 very stable points to Cabinet heroic, but also to the market that really goes into the design of their enclosure. There is nothing premod to find even so there is plenty of potential in the large cabinet. Comes with the perfect solution clean and hard drive cooling boxes are a great detail. Generally a cabinet where CoolerMaster has really thought about the details and options are perfect for the price.

Conclusion:

We are very impressed with the Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 case. There are a few minor annoyances, but the top-notch build quality, smooth soundproofing, hassle free tool-less design outweigh any of those. Moreover, it is a very nice addition to the room as well. It's a sure head turner when friends are over. And of course, it lives up to its slogan Performance Meets Silence. Cooler Master has done another great job on their new performance chassis. If this Cosmos is to start a new line to succeed the Stacker, then it will not only replace the Stacker but improve upon it as well. The case is also very stylish and easy to handle for being such a large ATX/EATX case and there is quite a bit of room for expansion. On the opposite side of the microscope, two of the areas to improve upon include the right side panel not having much room for cable management and the hard drive cooling is rather limited.

Conclusion

Cooler Master Cosmos is a chassis without compromise. The details have been refined to perfection and detail work is monumental well done. The brushed aluminum surface provides a very exclusive look and material selection allows for a sturdy construction that can not for the hoes. The tool-free side plates are well secured and isolated, both in terms of vibration damping and sound insulation in the form of foam. Furthermore, the whole box very stable even though it actually rests on two aluminum tubing.

The inside of the chassis is very well-organized. The power supply draws air from outside of the box and is thus completely isolated from the hot air inside the chassis. Hard Drives installed in very handy cassettes that make it easy to mount both hard drives and to pick from them. Larger devices such as DVD burners mounted using tool-free mounts are incredibly easy to use. The manufacturer has even gone so far in search of usability to include a template that shows where the distances to different motherboard standards to sit. An amazingly well-executed design, in other words.

Conclusion, Pros and Cons

We€™d like to thank CoolerMaster for providing the Cosmos for our review today. Overall, using the Cosmos was a great experience, but there were a few items that need to be addressed.

One of the main things we had difficulties with was its size and weight. After installing our hardware into the system, the Cosmos was almost too heavy to lift. A PC case this heavy should have come on rollers or something. Using steel and aluminum together could have reduced the Cosmos€™ overall weight by quite a bit. The size of the Cosmos is also a concern because it barely fit underneath our desk, but if users need a server case, this one should definitely be on the top of their list. .....

Conclusion

The Cosmos could quite possibly be the finest example of computer enclosure engineering and execution to date.  It is without a doubt one of the best cases I've ever reviewed. It's too early to give you a firm price on it, but it's looking like it will price out around $200. If that holds true, it's a bargain. I'll admit, I do like the look of some of the very large, very expensive all aluminum cases, but I love how quiet the Cosmos is. And if you can get this kind of quality at 100, 150 or 200 dollars cheaper, give up nothing in performance and gain a huge advantage in noise reduction, why wouldn't you?

The two tone scheme and rails give it a funky look that will no doubt turn some people off, it lacks the universal appeal of some of the classic best sellers. It's got those love it or hate it looks, but it will appeal to many and if Cooler Master does eventually release an all black version, it will appeal to many more.

If you want to buy yourself a little peace and quiet and give up nothing in the way of performance, look no further.

"The Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 Case is probably one of the most anticipated cases out there. It comes with lots of drive bays, acoustic foam, 5 120mm fans, large handles, and has a tooless design for installing drive in the 5.25" drive bays. It also has a very unique hard drive compartment system for storing up to 6 HDDs. This case is mostly steel though so it's fairly heavy, but this keeps the cost down over an all aluminum case. Watch the video to find out more and check out the bloopers at the end." ~3dGameMan.com

All in all, the Cosmos is a solidly built and attractive case which performs well enough in heat testing and runs near silently. This alone puts it high in the upper echelons of PC cases, but it€™s price point is a little awkward and shaving just a little off the cost would instantly make it a much more attractive case. Pound signs aside though, the Cosmos is a worthy addition to the Cooler Master range and a good buy for anyone who can spare the dough.

After installing a system in the COSMOS I had no issues or problems. All of the features discussed simply worked as they were supposed to. All drives were securely installed and cable clutter was easily tucked away to establish maximum airflow throughout the case. While I did not load all hard drive bays to capacity, I had no overheating issues with three hard drives in place. I did however use a bit of common sense and did not stack them all on the same row, but separated them as much as possible to maximize the cooling that was being provided to them.

Sometimes you just need a large case, whether it's for a workstation, departmental server or fire-breathing, dual-graphics card gaming rig. If so, then the Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 looks good, is easy to work with and tries to keep a little quieter. It's well worth the price.

Overall I was more than impressed though as when I am hammering on a keyboard all day to bring you these words of wisdom I hate to hear a bunch of screaming fans in the background. It's distracting and after hours and hours of it just gets tiresome. My gaming PC, which also is in a CoolerMaster CM Stacker 830 is Overclocked, water-cooled and has more fans than normal to keep it cool, but it is noisy. The Cosmos 1000 is great for the builder who wants straightforward simplicity, looks that kill and wants a PC that is seen not heard. When Cooler Master claims performance and silence they mean they have made a product that is quiet, but still keeps a stock system running smoothly. This is not an overclocking product, if you want that as your main agenda; check out the 800 series of cases they rock for overclocking. The Cosmos 1000 though is a clear winner in the Silent PC arena, and gets an Editors Choice Award for that and all its abundance of goodness.

Benchmark Reviews

Presentation is top-notch, like most everything from Cooler Master.  The retail packaging is more than informative enough to educate buyers before they make the purchase, which is always helpful in making happy customers.

Some will like the Cosmos 1000's silver/titanium finish, and others will want a version in black.  Since the front has enough black accent to make your exposed devices blend-in, the exterior color will not be an issue.  The added styling and multiple ventilation grills only help improve the unique and technical appearance.

This is an awesome case which has the best new features on a case I have seen for quite sometime. This case is very quiet and the thermal solution it offers is exceptional. You have so many different choices on how to cool off your case and if you want a more quiet one just buy some extra quiet fans or fan adapters to lower the noise even more. You don't need any tools at all to mount all parts in your computer which makes it easy even for beginners to use. The cable managment system is also very nice along with the front SATA ports and the good looks of the case. Overall I want to give this case our Editors choice award for some proffessional features that other cases lack.

It's a highly competitive case in the premium market because it has everything you'd want in a chassis - it's sturdy, well designed, runs cool, is quiet, and is a pleasure to work with. The latest high end ATX case from Coolermaster will set you back ~$170 / ~‚190, whether this investment is worth it depends on your taste. The visual aspect of the Cosmos is without a doubt unique in the market, it remains sleek but incorporates some flashy design choices, the handle bars do stand out.

Internal design and features are excellent with working tool-less HD/Optical Drive bays, functional VGA air duct and enough room to fit the highest end hardware. Cooling wise the case doesn€™t disappoint with four 120mm fans pre-installed, the only area which needs attention is the HDD bay, without active cooling things will heat up there.

If you are in the market for a new edition to your home or a place to stick your mother in-law for the upcoming holidays, then the CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 is what you need. The design style is sleek, but has an unequivocally macho feel to it. The aluminum panels have a brushed texture to them, adding to the overall appeal. The bezel door also has this brushed texture, but its most notable feature is the ability to reverse the direction it can open.
